INSPIRATION FOR MY MAJORELLE CANVASSES

majorelle garden marrakesh inspiration for my majorelle collection the fran by the fountain
In the Majorelle Garden, summer 2016.

In the summer of 2016 I visited the Majorelle Garden in Marrakesh, Morocco. I was enthralled by the tranquility, the exotic colours and the green energy. I saw plants I had never seen before. Saw shapes and colour combinations that were totally new to me while at the same time resonated somewhere deep inside of me.

Back home I wanted nothing more than to recreate that energy. I started drawing shapes and painting colours. Ultimately I end up with five large canvas originals. All with colour combinations and shapes from the garden. They take me back to the garden every time I look at them. And I am certain they will bring their new owners the same tranquil yet energizing feeling.

SPECS OF THESE CANVAS ORIGINALS

All five Majorelle oil paint canvas originals are 60 x 80 cm / 23.62 x 31.49 inch in size. They are without frame. But if you would like to buy it with frame, please contact me so we can discuss your preferences.

THE MAJORELLE COLLECTION

After painting the five Majorelle paintings I wasn’t ready to let the Majorelle garden go. So I explored the idea of my paintings on fabric. I translated my paintings into patterns and printed them on limited edition scarfs and cushions. Ultimately I ended up with making a complete collection collaborating with modern glass artist Elise Neve from Studio Glashelder and custom carpet design agency TON design. You can check out the whole Majorelle Collection here.
