INSPIRATION FOR THESE WINTER SKIES
For three years I have lived on the 5th floor with a grand view of the surroundings and of the changing winter skies. During the winter of 2019 I was particularly fascinated by the fast changing clouds and colours. It seemed like a new work of art day after day! I saw colours I had never seen in the sky: deep purple, lime green, magenta pink and shades of salmon orange.
First I made a series of nine ink drawings of clouds. Capturing their uneven abstract shapes. Trying to find my own way of drawing clouds and their shadows. Out of these nine ink drawings I chose three to paint in colour. Because I wanted to do those skies justice by immortalising them as oil painting paper originals. I tried to capture as much shades of colours I had seen floating by that winter.
